Together Eddie and Christina began this business venture in June 2022 with a small cup of mealworms and a few Dubia Roaches. Originally only breeding them for their own personal bearded dragon (the mascot in the shop now) to be able to get healthy insects at a decent price. They then began to research and raise different types of insects for various reasons. Thus, ECK Farms was made, named after their 3 kids, Emma, Clyde and Katy (who are very active in the business) with the farms coming from the farming of all the insects.
Online selling began in December 2022 and continues today, shipping insects throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. A retail space opened in April 2023 to be able to provide vitamin infused, locally raised feeder insects to Warrensburg. They saw a large need (and love of fishing) in our area, thus added the bait shop portion opening in June 2023.
A new portion of the business has slowly been happening behind the scenes raising meat- and flesh-eating beetles. This led to a lot of education and licensures to be able to provide taxidermy by bugs to central Missouri. They have since completed a large number of skulls with their Dermestid Beetle Colonies.
Additional retail items and eventually, more retail space (hopefully this fall) will be added. Today ECK Farms has a wide variety of live bait, frozen/preserved bait, feeder insects, tackle items, reptiles, reptile supplies and taxidermy service (European Mounts)/items.
We want to thank our customers for the support they have given us! It means the world to us, and we truly appreciate each of you!

A little about the owners:
Christina has a bachelor's degree with some master's degree education in Nursing. She has done a wide variety of nursing from surgical to school nursing (and in between). She has been a nurse since 2005. Christina currently works for the Warrensburg school district as a school nurse, as needed. Yes, we all want to know the reasoning behind not nursing full time. Burn out is the answer, she simply wanted to pursue something else she was interested and passionate about.
Eddie has a bachelor's degree in Geology with a lot of extra biology classes. Eddie also owns a Drywall company in Warrensburg since 2008. He is very busy with his jobs but hopes to eventually completely change careers with the opening of this business. He too wanted to venture into a business he was interested in and passionate about.
